Tingkat Kecemasan Keluarga Pasien di Ruang Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Abstract

Patient care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) not only impacts the patient's physical condition but also the psychological condition of the family. The uncertainty of the patient's condition, the risk of death, limited communication, and changes in family roles can trigger anxiety in families waiting for the patient during treatment in the ICU. Disclosure of family anxiety levels is important as a basis for providing psychological support by health workers. This study aims to describe the anxiety levels of patient families in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Dr. H. Soewondo Kendal Regional Hospital. This study is a quantitative study with a descriptive design and a cross-sectional approach. The study sample was 57 families of ICU patients selected using the Accidental Sampling technique. Data were collected using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) questionnaire and analyzed univariately in the form of frequency distribution, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and 95% confidence interval. The average age of respondents was 41.74±11.79 years. Most respondents were male (50.9%) and unemployed (36.8%). The anxiety levels of ICU patients' families were dominated by moderate anxiety (38 respondents (66.7%), followed by severe anxiety (11 respondents (19.3%), no anxiety (5 respondents (8.8%), and mild anxiety (3 respondents (5.3%). The majority of families of patients in the ICU at Dr. H. Soewondo Kendal Regional Hospital experienced moderate levels of anxiety. This indicates that families still require attention and psychological support while their family members undergo intensive care.
